FC Battalion is one of the professional or semi-professional teams representing the historically great footballing city of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
The football club, though unclear as to its exact date of formation, has laid a clearly rising foundation for themselves which can be seen through past results as well as their present performances.
FC Battalion, not to be confused with other franchises carrying the Battalion name, surfaced in semi-professional grassroots leagues, recently, around the 2022/23 season in the O.R Tambo Men’s Regional League where they finished the season as runners up on the league table.
In the 2023/24 season, the club participated in the SAFA O.R Tambo Men’s Regional League. In the following year, the club continued their run in grassroots league football of the SAFA O.R Tambo Hollywoodbets Regional League when they again ended the season behind the log leaders.
FC Battalion made their most significant move ahead of the 2025/26 season when they acquired the league status of G-Millionaires FC, a club competing in the SAFA Second Division (ABC Motsepe League). This strategic purchase secured FC Battalion’s place in the ABC Motsepe League Eastern Cape stream, as of the 2025/26 campaign.
